What Does Purple Carrot Offer?

Purple Carrot offers both prepared meals and kits containing the ingredients you need to prepare the meals yourself.

If you choose the meal kit option, you can choose between 2 plans. The first is its 2-Serving Plan, which is aimed towards single people or small families and is intended to cater for your main evening meal. It includes a minimum of 3 dinners, each serving 2 people. You can add up 6 meals per week, for a total of 12 servings.

Alternatively, you can choose its 4-Serving Plan, which is designed for larger families. It offers a minimum of 2 dinners, each serving 4 people, for a total of 8 weekly servings. You can add up to 3 meals a week, for a total of 12 servings.

With the prepared meal option, you’ll receive 1 serving per week to feed 6, 8, or 10 diners.

You can also add breakfast and lunch options to your plan, as well as Plantry options, which are individual grocery items from popular vegan brands.

Overall, we found the process of creating an account, selecting a meal plan, and customizing our meal box extremely straightforward and hassle free.

If you’re concerned about the planet, you may be pleased to learn that Purple Carrot meal typically results in 72% fewer carbon being released as compared with the average meal in the US.

What’s On The Menu?

As well as offering a 100% plant-based menu, Purple Carrot offers customers on its 2-Serving Plan the option of receiving meals that are specially created for diners on a gluten-free or high-protein diet.

The gluten-free plan will provide you with 100% gluten-free meals, although you should note the facilities Purple Carrot uses to process meals are not certified as gluten-free, which means you should use discretion if you are concerned about this issue. With the high-protein plan, your meals will contain a minimum of 20 grams of protein.

If you have an allergy, be aware that the company is unable to omit specific allergens from its recipes and recommends that you customize your meal box each week to cater for any allergies you may have.

When we tried the site, we were tempted by its creamy mac n’ cheese with pesto peas. With a prep time of 2 minutes in the microwave and 490 calories per serving, this meal is ideal for those who are seeking a high-protein treat.

If you’re a fan of hot food, you could opt for the spicy red curry with roasted vegetables, tofu, and spelt, which is blended from a Korean chili paste and has 560 calories.

Alternatively, diners on a gluten-free diet may enjoy the tofu palak paneer with kale and mango quinoa. Inspired by the recipe from the Punjab region in the North of India, this version swaps cheese for tofu and has 520 calories.

Although Purple Carrot’s nutritional teams will choose the contents of your box each week, you can select your own meal choices if you wish. If you’d like to customize your box, you’ll need to do so by the Tuesday prior to your next delivery date.

When you receive your box, all ingredients are clearly labeled and you’ll also receive a recipe booklet, which contains 8 dinner recipes, as well as 2 breakfast and 2 lunch recipes.

Prepared meals typically require a few minutes in the microwave to heat up. If you choose the meal kit plan, preparation times will vary—although you can specifically choose the quick-and-easy option when you sign up for your subscription. With this option, all your meals should take less than 30 minutes to prepare.

What’s It Gonna Cost Me?

The cost of your subscription will depend on the meal plan you choose, as well as the number of diners you include on your plan.

If you choose the meal kit option, you can expect to pay approximately $10-$12 per serving, while the prepared meal option is roughly $13 per serving.

You can also add 4 breakfast or lunch servings to your box each week, which will cost approximately $18.

Although the price of the company's Plantry items will also vary, these begin at under $5.

You can also claim a special offer if you subscribe to Purple Carrot through our service. For more information, check the table above.

If you take out a subscription, all shipping costs are included in your membership fees. At present, the company ships to the contiguous US only. If you are uncertain whether your zip code is covered, you can check via online chat.

Getting Your Box

After you become a member, your first box will typically arrive within 7 to10 days. Boxes are delivered on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays, with the day of your delivery depending on your location.

All orders are insulated and packed with non-toxic ice packs, which should ensure they remain at a safe temperature during delivery.

The majority of its packaging is recyclable, with plastics being numbered to make recycling simpler. You can find more details about packaging and recycling on Purple Carrot’s website.

Major public holidays may cause some delays to your shipping and information about these delays will appear in the Upcoming Deliveries section of your account approximately 2 weeks prior to your planned delivery date.

So, What’s For Dinner?

As well as offering an extremely straightforward sign-up process, its user-friendly website helps ensure a hassle-free experience when choosing a meal plan and adding extras to your box. Although the company can’t cater specifically for allergies, we were impressed by the range of meal choices on offer, which should suit almost any palate.
